Phantomics, a medical imaging AI startup co-led by CEOs Byungwook Choi and Panki Kim, has won the Grand Innovation Technology Award at the FIX 2024 Innovation Awards.

The FIX Innovation Awards recognize outstanding products in terms of innovation, technological advancement, and market potential among innovative products from around the world. The event was launched this year to identify, nurture, and support innovative technology companies and to develop industrial strategies for future new industries.

The Grand Innovation Technology Award honors the top eight companies in various categories, and Phantomics was selected as the top company in the ABB (AI, Big-Data, Block-chain) category.

Phantomics was recognized for its innovation and technological excellence in combining artificial intelligence with non-invasive diagnostic technologies such as MRI and CT, offering fast and accurate diagnostic results, which earned them the Grand Innovation Technology Award.

The company's core technology, Myomics, uses AI to automatically analyze and quantify cardiac MRI images, enabling safe and accurate diagnosis of suspected heart diseases such as heart failure, myocarditis, and amyloidosis. This technology dramatically reduces the analysis time from 30 minutes to less than 2 minutes, provides standardized analysis to minimize variations in results across hospitals, and delivers accuracy comparable to tissue biopsies.

CEO Pan Ki Kim of Phantomics expressed his pride, stating, "We are honored to be the first recipient of the FIX Innovation Awards. Following our recognition at CES 2024, where we received the Innovation Award, winning the Grand Innovation Technology Award at FIX 2024 further demonstrates our proven innovation and technological excellence. We will continue to offer cutting-edge AI solutions to support the early diagnosis and prevention of cardiovascular diseases, the leading cause of death worldwide."

Phantomics was founded by faculty members of Yonsei University’s Severance Hospital to develop innovative medical solutions by combining AI with non-invasive diagnostic technologies, offering fast and accurate diagnostic results. Its flagship technologies include the cardiac MRI-based AI solution, Myomics, and the cardiac CT-based solution, Angiomics.

Myomics has been recognized for its value in enabling rapid treatment in clinical settings and is currently in use at over 20 leading hospitals in South Korea, as well as in Japan, Taiwan, and Singapore. Earlier this year, Phantomics also became the first in Korea’s medical imaging AI industry to receive the CES 2024 Innovation Award, acknowledging its high level of technological innovation.

Meanwhile, EXCO is hosting the FIX 2024 (Future Innovation Tech EXPO), a global event showcasing the latest technologies in mobility, robotics, AI, and semiconductors, from October 23 to 26.
